5 Reason Why Korea is Comfortable

Hello, welcome back to my blog.
As you know, I am one of the International student in UNIST (a Korean university) and today I wanted to share you why living here is comfortable. I've been in Korea since I was high school and didn't regret staying there. Compare to my country, Korea has more advantage on their technology and economical. In addition. Korean also really kind toward foreigner like us. Thus, many people decided to continue living in Korea and didn't come back to their country for working. They even bring their family together and abandon their culture. Anyway, I will bring my experience why many foreigners decided to spend their lifetime over here.


Let's start by a little bit overview about Korea. South Korea is one of the country with high average monthly sallary in Asia. There was a lot of hardship in their history like Japan invasion, Korean war, and economical crisis, but Korea rised through their hardwork and become one of respectable country around the world. As you might know from K-pop and K-wave, we know about some culture that might cross our religion and culture (such as drinking and eating dog). However, many people still choose to live here in Korea. This post, I will give you my 5 reasons why living here is worth it and might be why multiethnics are rising in  South Korea.

1. Safety first, yeah safety first.

Say "Kimchi" before I arrest you

Once upon a time, I have a friend who left every single stuff in library (including his computer and wallet) since he wanted to go to watch some movie. Later after watching a movie, he came back to his room and then came back to library the day afterwards. It turned out that all of his stuffs are still there. If it's in my country, someone already move their stuff or might be steal it. In addition, is not only me that was surprised, my Arabian friend was also surprised.

Korean safety I think is better than third world countries, or as good as European country. I guess this is because of the citizen whose really honest and care toward each other. Sometimes, a Korean would shout over someone if they didn't follow the rule (They did that once to me in subway). I am not even mad, this sense of justice need to be in every citizen to create a perfect safety. Not only that, If you are blackout at night after party, they will also help you transport safely to your home. Thus staying up all night here is not as scary as in my country. In summary, Korea is a safer place to stay.

2. A Kind-hearted Korean

Nothing beat a kind neighbor around you. Koreans are also kind ad care toward other people. My hypothesis was correct after I stayed in hospital for a whole week. When I was there, I thought I am gonna be left alone. Turned out that every single Korean there and even the injured one took care of me. They even give me two movie ticket for dating (I don't have girlfriend, that's what make me sad). Anyway, I learnt a lot of Korea traditional food, language, and culture in hospital from Ahjumma and Ahjussi. True that Korean Ahjumma or Ahjussi looks very serious and scary, but they are actually care about us. Staying up all day with my Korean roommate (Do kyung and Kite) also give me proof that high tolerance of Korean toward my religion.

3. High Education

Korea know as one of the best country in this world (I think I mention it on the previous post, "stuDying). I stayed here in Korea since high school due to the fact that Korean student are more than average and hoping for the better education. It's actually true and when I come back to Indonesia, I taught my aunt about mathematics and sciences. When I visited United States for summer camp, we knew about all the theory even though I am not excel in that, but my American friend didn't. Korea government also offer a lot of scholarship for International student no matter where they come from. Even though high pressure, but I think studying and compete with Korean student here is excellent to improve yourself.

4. Wifi and Technology Everywhere

The only train that doesn't make me nausea or dizzy.

Subway in the metropolitan city, free wifi (IPtime), Kakaotalk, and online education in Korea is the best reason I could think so far. Today, South Korea already foresaw this era ever since the Internet just came out. As my professor said in early class, the fast Internet in Korea already been here since 1990's. On the other hand, Smartphone from Korea (Samsung and LG) already control all the mobile market over the world. In addition high quality public transportation, subway, already been here in around 2000's. Subway and KTX is special for me since my country doesn't  have subway or train as fast and comfortable as KTX. Welcome to Korea, or welcome to technological country.

5. High GDP, high salary

Pro-gamer consider as a job in Korea and kind of have same or more than average Salary

For the third world country, income in Korea is high. Based on a website called salaryexplorer.com, Average salary in Korea is around 5 million won while my country and Vietnam is only 20% of that (1 million won). Even though the living fee is much higher here but once you get the job here, you can easily survive and still give money to your family assuming that they only need 1 million won every month. Looking at this opportunity, working here might be the best idea for us to improve our family and fortune.

In conclusion, there are a lot advantage to live in Korea such as technology, high salary, education, safety and Korean itself. From this advantage, we can see why a lot of different ethnic migrate from their country to Korea itself. If this keeps going on, I think Korea will be much better country since multiethnics and everyone living in peace together. I think of this because every Indonesian believe that there is a beauty behind the different culture, thus multiethnics in Korea will make Korea grow bigger.
